Filming  Todays Events for Tomorrows Memories
A community that forgets its past has no future

We have 800 hours of film and 8,000 photos in our Archives

We are a History Video Group located in Outwood, near Wakefield, West Yorkshire in England. The club was formed in 2001 to encourage people of all ages to take an interest in film making.

We intend to film events around our local communities in Outwood, Stanley, Alverthorpe, Wrenthorpe, Kirkhamgate and Lofthouse. All our members are volunteers and give their time freely.

The aim of our club is, with the aid of local funding, to produce a series of videos that reflect the history of our area, and to put together a digital database of film and photographs for future generations.

PREMIER “THE QUEST FOR COAL"

For Website

21 years ago 2001 I came away from a meeting thinking "What have I done".

Local miners asked me to attend their meeting as they had a question to ask me, I said yes to that question and that was the problem I was wishing I had said no on my way home and for the next 2 days..

They were planning the erection of a pit wheel in Outwood and their question was "Will you make a video that we could sell to raise money for the upkeep of the wheel".

My problem was I had never done anything like that before, I new nothing about filming or editing. I did not know where to start.

I kept going to pick up the phone to my friend Tony Banks to say I could not do it. but a promise is a promise and I do not give up easy.

PREMIER “HALL OF MEMORIES

Memorial Hall

Of the films I have made this is not one of the best sellers, the subject to many is not all that exciting, but to me it is one of the most important and closest to my heart.

With remembrance Sunday coming up I have decided to put the full film on Youtube.

I am sure many people pass the hall without a second thought as to what it represents. It is Outwood's War Memorial to the men and women who gave their lives in 2 world wars.

I was so upset when our hall was vandalised a few years back, I am sure that if the culprits had watched this film they would have thought twice.

The speeches by representatives from different religious denominations are the best I have heard.
